What an affiliate link is

An affiliate link is a purchase link to a provider that carries our identifier. When you click “Get it”, you land on the provider’s own site and order, pay and get support there — exactly as you would had you found them yourself. If you order through one of these links, we receive a commission. Your price does not change.

How we label them

• Affiliate links all go out through /go/ and carry rel="sponsored";
• Where a redirect lands depends on the provider's programme: when a product-level affiliate link is available you land on that plan's order page; for providers with only a site-wide affiliate link, the first click within an hour goes through it and later clicks go straight to the product page;
• An article containing affiliate links shows an “Ad” tag and a one-line disclosure in the meta row under the title;
• A page containing affiliate links carries a disclosure line in the footer;
• A provider we have no affiliate relationship with gets a plain link to its own site — no tag, no disclosure line.

What it does not affect

• Your price. No provider charges more because you arrived from here. Some coupon codes only work when you do.
• Our conclusions. A server we earn on is tested and written up the same way as one we do not. Negative findings are not removed because of a commission.
• Ordering. Listings are sorted by whatever you pick — sort and filter both live in the URL, so changing one changes the order. There is no house ranking sitting above that.
